The Weizmann Institute, known for its scientific achievements, has announced the opening of a new medical school. This ambitious program is being implemented in collaboration with the Sheba Medical Center and plans to admit about 40 students annually. Graduates of the program will receive dual degrees — MD and PhD. Candidate registration will begin at the end of this year, and studies will start in October 2025.

As reported by the MIGnews website, training physician-scientists within this program will significantly boost the development of the Israeli healthcare sector. The program is designed to rethink approaches to medical education and advance biomedical research and its practical application in Israel. The program will also define the role of physician-scientists in the new era of research-based medicine, allowing graduates to effectively combine clinical practice with the development of biomedical research.
