Aliá, dream and reality – WZO

Aliá, dream and reality

A seminar with such a title will take place in the city of La Plata, the capital of the Buenos Aires province. Young Jews aged 18 to 35 will gather to learn more about various aspects of life in Israel – from military service to the economy and medicine. The event is organized by the Department for Aliyah Promotion of the World Zionist Organization in cooperation with ‘Ofek Israeli’.

The seminar will last three days. Participants will attend lectures on current aspects of preparation for repatriation and planning life in Israel. They will be informed about benefits for new citizens, introduced to special programs for professional absorption, and opportunities for education at universities and colleges in Israel. Those interested will receive individual consultations. Participation in the seminar is subsidized, including accommodation and meals.

Today, about 200,000 Jews live in Argentina, making it the largest Jewish community in Latin America.

Marina Rosenberg-Koritnaya, Head of the Department for Aliyah Promotion of the WZO:

‘The seminar ‘Aliyah – Dreams and Reality’, which will take place in La Plata, is already the fourth in a row. The previous one took place a year ago in Rosario – the capital of the Argentine province of Santa Fe and the third-largest city in the country. The relevance of the seminar is evidenced by the fact that it attracts youth not only from major centers – such as Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Rosario – but also young Jews from small towns of the vast Latin American country. It is very important to build bridges of communication with all, even the most remote from major centers, Jewish communities.’
