Aliyah Fair & Minister Ofir Sofer’s Visit to a Hebrew Ulpan

The initial Aliyah Fair in five years took place on Sunday, March 17, 2024, in London, graced by the presence of Minister of Aliyah and Absorption, MK Ofir Sofer, Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mrs. Tzipi Hotobeli, and Deputy Director of Aliyah and Absorption at the Jewish Agency, Mr. Shay Felber. Hundreds of members of the Jewish community in Great Britain attended the fair, eager to explore immigration and absorption opportunities in Israel, and to gather comprehensive information from Israeli representatives across various sectors, all under one roof. Amidst the backdrop of the “Iron Swords” conflict, there has been a notable 40% increase in the number of new immigrants from Britain relocating to Israel since the start of 2024.

On Monday, March 18, Minister Ofir Sofer paid a visit to a Hebrew Ulpan class organized by the Department for the Promotion of Aliyah at the JW3 Community Centre in London. Engaging with the students, he discussed the current situation in Israel and the statistics of Aliyah from the UK, posing questions in Hebrew and extending wishes for their success in their studies. He emphasized that should they choose to make Aliyah, they will always be warmly welcomed in Israel. Vadim Blumin, Head of the Jewish Agency in the UK and Europe, Matan Bar-Noy, Head of the WZO Delegation in the UK, and Deputy Director of Aliyah and Absorption at the Jewish Agency, Mr. Shay Felber, accompanied him during this visit.
