Argentina officially recognized Hamas as a terrorist organization

Yesterday, July 12, the office of President Javier Milei issued a statement that Argentina has officially added Hamas to its list of terrorist organizations. The statement emphasizes Hamas’s responsibility for the attack on Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 civilians, including the elderly, women, and children, and kidnapping more than 250 hostages. It also mentions close ties between Hamas and Iran, which Argentina accuses of two terrorist attacks on Jewish sites in the country. The explosion at the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires in 1994 resulted in 85 deaths and hundreds of injuries. Another attack on the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992 killed 29 people. The Argentine court has accused Iran and the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah of these attacks.

The USA, European Union, and several other countries have long classified Hamas, which has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007, as a terrorist organization.
