Pain that does not subside: the bodies of six hostages were found in Gaza

The morning of September 1 brought bitter news for Israel: the bodies of six hostages, kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on October 7, were found in the Gaza Strip. Among the deceased were two women and four men, whose names will now be inscribed in the tragic chronicle of history.

  • Carmel Gat (40 years old, from Kibbutz Be’eri)
  • Almog Sarusi (26 years old, from Ra’anana)
  • Ori Danino (24 years old, from Jerusalem)
  • Hersh Goldberg-Polin (23 years old, from Jerusalem, citizen of Israel and the USA)
  • Eden Yerushalmi (24 years old, from Tel Aviv)
  • Alexander Lobanov (32 years old, from Ashkelon, citizen of Israel and Russia)

These people, whose lives were mercilessly cut short, embody the pain and loss that terrorism brings to the people of Israel. Their bodies were found on Saturday, August 31, in one of Hamas’s tunnels under Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip on the border with Egypt.

According to the examination conducted at the Institute of Forensic Medicine on the morning of September 1, the hostages were killed by several close-range shots. The time of death was determined to be between 72 to 48 hours before the autopsy, that is, on Thursday or Friday night. This terrible truth once again reminds us that terrorism deprives innocent people of their lives, leaving behind only pain and emptiness.

The bodies of the deceased have now been returned to their families, so they can be mourned and buried with the honors they deserve. But this loss is not only for their relatives and close ones but for the entire nation of Israel.
