Mazal Tov! Yesterday former PM Golda Meir, the “Iron Lady”, celebrated her 122nd birthday Golda Meir was the world’s third and Israel’s first and only woman to hold the office of Prime Minister! The World Zionist Organisation in UK holds an annual Golden Golda Award recognising women who have made a contribution to Zionism, the promotion of Aliyah and Israel.

This day in history: UN resolution on the creation of a Jewish state

On November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 181, proposing to divide the territory of the British Mandate in Palestine into two states — Jewish and Arab, with Jerusalem to be made an international zone.
