Israel is closer than it seems

In May 2025, the Department for the Promotion of Aliyah’s office in Brazil held a series of vibrant events in various cities across the country, promoting Israeli programs, Hebrew learning, and cultural connections with Israel.

Masa Program Fair in São Paulo (19.5)
The department’s team presented youth ulpan classes and educational initiatives for those considering life or study in Israel. Hundreds of young Brazilian Jews showed interest, recognizing the importance of Hebrew as the key to a new chapter in life.

Participation in a Jewish street market in Porto Alegre (25.5)
At the event organized by the local Jewish community, ulpan teacher Luciana talked about the Hebrew learning project. Dozens of participants stopped by the booth, asked questions, and submitted applications to participate.

“Hebrew Café” in Rio de Janeiro — with a taste of Israel
Israeli chef Yaakov Oren conducted a culinary master class in the format of “Hebrew over a cup of coffee”. Participants not only prepared traditional dishes but also spoke exclusively in Hebrew, discussing culture, food, and the personal story of the chef.

Each of these events was a step towards strengthening the connection between the Jewish diaspora and Israel, turning language learning and cultural acquaintance into a lively and appealing experience.
