The birthday of Israeli civil aviation is considered to be September 28, 1948, when the first president of the state, Chaim Weizmann, arrived in Israel from Geneva on board a military aircraft, Douglas C-54 Skymaster, converted for civilian use.

With the presence of Natan Berman, in charge of welcoming new immigrants at the Municipality of Jerusalem, and Leticia Baran, employment advisor at The Jewish Agency for Israel, the Aliyah Promotion Department of the World Zionist Organization held the conference ‘Living, Working, and Studying in Israel’.

July 5, 1950, became a landmark date for the Jewish people and the State of Israel: on this day, the Knesset unanimously adopted the Law of Return, securing the right of every Jew to repatriate to Israel.
