End of the academic year in South American ulpans – WZO

End of the academic year in South American ulpans

For residents of the Northern Hemisphere, December marks the beginning of winter. In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the time for the onset of summer, the end of the academic year, and the start of long holidays. Ulpanim in Latin America marked this moment with bright and memorable events.

The first in a series of festive events was a solemn ceremony in Buenos Aires. It gathered more than 700 students of the ulpanim of the Department for the Promotion of Aliyah.

The event featured speeches by the Ambassador of Israel to Argentina, Eyal Sela, the President of the Zionist Federation of Argentina, Damian Startaevsky, the Chairman of the Committee on Jewish Education, Ariel Cohen-Sabban, and the representative of the Department in Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America, Alejandro Milenkovsky. The evening was hosted by the coordinator of ulpanim, Silvana Schneiderman.

The program included a theatrical performance by the Jewish theater troupe “Connex”, a performance by singer Tali Lublianski, and, of course, the awarding of diplomas. The central symbol of the event was a hundred lit candles in solidarity with the hostages still held by Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

Head of the Department Marina Rozenberg Koritny:
From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate our coordinators, teachers, and students on the completion of the academic year. I wish everyone interesting and joyful holidays, success in the new academic year, and, of course, I look forward to seeing you in Israel. We are always happy to see you Home!
