Argentine President Javier Milei received the Genesis Prize for supporting Israel
In June, Argentine President Javier Milei once again visited Israel and openly demonstrated that his support is not just a polite gesture, but a deep personal stance. During his three-day visit, he confirmed his intention to move the Argentine embassy to Jerusalem.

Straight to the Western Wall
On the day of his arrival, Milei went to the Western Wall. He prayed for the hostages, read a psalm, and left a brief note in the visitor’s book: “Freedom for Zion”. This was not his first visit to Israel — in February 2024, he had already come to personally express solidarity after the tragedy of October 7. But this time, everything was even deeper and more personal. “I am always with Israel — with all my heart. Because it is the just cause of the civilized world,” he told journalists.
Direct Speech in the Knesset
At a special session in the Knesset, Milei stated directly: “October 7 was a day of barbarism. Israel has the right to defend itself, and the world must demand the release of the hostages.” He reminded that among the abducted are Argentine citizens and called for their immediate release. Milei also confirmed: the Argentine embassy will move to Jerusalem in 2026, as previously promised.
The Genesis Prize
During the visit, Milei was awarded the international Genesis Prize, often referred to as the “Jewish Nobel.” He promised to allocate the one million dollar prize to projects that strengthen ties between Israel and Latin America and are aimed at combating anti-Semitism.
At the ceremony, the President of Argentina declared: “Am Yisrael Chai” — “The People of Israel Live!”
Comment by Marina Rosenberg Koritny, Head of the WZO Department for the Promotion of Aliyah:
Javier Milei is one of the few world leaders who speaks about Israel not as a “question,” but as a value. His words, gestures, and actions are not diplomacy, but true friendship. For the Jewish community in Argentina, one of the largest in the diaspora, such presidential support is of immense significance. And for Israel, it is an example of an honest, principled, and consistent stance in a world where such voices are increasingly rare.
