A new volunteer program for medics from the diaspora has opened in Israel

The organization “Masa”, created by the Jewish Agency (“Sochnut”) and the government of Israel, is expanding the special volunteer program started after October 7th aimed at assisting Israeli society during this difficult period. Now, the program begins to accept medical volunteers – doctors, nurses, paramedics, and medical assistants, who will provide medical assistance in emergency situations.

This involves cooperation between the “Masa” organization and the Emergency Medical Service (“Magen David Adom – MDA”), under which a group of medics from the USA, UK, France, and Russia arrived in Israel for 6 weeks.

After completing a short course on providing emergency assistance in Israel, including training to work on ambulances, they joined the current activities of “MDA”: assisting victims of road accidents, emergency calls to help residents of border areas, donating blood for war victims, etc.

In addition, program participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the events of October 7th, hear stories of heroism, and imbibe the spirit of resilience and valor of Israeli society. They visited the “Soroka” hospital, which received thousands of wounded within a few hours on October 7th, and met with wounded soldiers. The medics also deepened their knowledge in emergency medical care and trauma treatment by participating in professional seminars.

As of today, “Masa” has received dozens of requests from medics around the world, wishing to come and participate in this program, which will be further expanded.
