About 2,500 children of new repatriates started the school year in Israel

September 1, 2025, became a special day for 2,462 children whose families repatriated to Israel this year. The cities of Israel warmly welcomed the new students. Ra’anana, Netanya, Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Modiin-Maccabim-Reut, Ashdod, Bat Yam, Petah Tikva, Be’er Sheva, and Rishon LeZion led in receiving first-grade repatriates. In each of these cities, schools opened their doors to give the children not just knowledge but also a sense of home.

The Israeli Ministry of Education is doing everything possible to help the new students adapt. Olim children receive language and academic support to quickly learn Hebrew and integrate into the educational process. This care helps every child feel part of Israeli society.

Head of the Department for the Promotion of Aliyah Marina Rosenberg Koritny: “When families with children repatriate, it’s a special joy and a special responsibility. Our role outside of Israel is to prepare families for this step. And then — a huge thank you to the municipalities, schools, and teachers who turn ‘a new country’ into ‘my home.’ Providing children with conditions for life at home means investing in their future and the future of Israel. These children are not just new students; they are the future of the country. Their laughter in school corridors, their first successes, and new friends are what make Israel stronger and brighter. Welcome home, kids! May your journey in the new school be full of discoveries, joy, and warmth!”
