Building bridges: Ricardo Warthheimer’s visit to Brazil

From May 6 to May 15, a special guest visited Brazil — Ricardo Warthheimer, a musician and repatriate originally from São Paulo. His visit covered four cities: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and Recife.

Over 10 days, he held more than 20 meetings, reaching nearly a thousand people — from schoolchildren to the general public. He shared his aliyah story, explained why he decided to build his life in Israel, and did so in the language closest to him — the language of music.

At the meetings, Ricardo talked about the role of music in Israeli culture and how it became a way of emotional support after the tragic events of October 7. His concerts in three cities were a real celebration, where Israeli music sounded brightly, warmly, and homely in a Brazilian way.

Comment by Marina Rosenberg Koritny, Head of the Department for the Promotion of Aliyah:

This visit was a living example of how personal stories and creativity can inspire, bring people closer, and awaken interest in Israel.
