Another corruption scandal in the UN

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, known for her anti-Israel stance, has been embroiled in a corruption scandal. The organization UN Watch accused Albanese of receiving illegal payments from pro-Palestinian lobbying groups and demanded her suspension from office.

In November 2023, Albanese made trips to Australia and New Zealand, funded by pro-Palestinian organizations Australian Friends of Palestine Association (AFOPA) and Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN). These trips cost the sponsors more than $20,000.

Albanese is the first human rights rapporteur to be officially condemned for antisemitism by the governments of the USA, France, and Germany. Michele Taylor, the Permanent Representative of the USA to the UN Human Rights Council, emphasized that Albanese has a documented history of antisemitic comments and justifying terrorism against Israel.
